An easy going city trail that offers woodland & river...
You can extend this route further along the valley into the Peak District, but that either means running on road, or taking on some uphill trails! The Wyming Brook area, opposite Rivelin Edge can be beautiful.

Detailed description

SK3203288317 Footbridge across river, then turn right to follow riverside dirt trail.

SK3119487830 Cross main road - CARE! The road is fairly quiet, but the crossing is on a tight bend which makes it hard to see oncoming traffic.

SK2970487271 As you leave the trees, take the right path slightly uphill to join the main road (don't cross), then immediately leave it as the path continues downhill.

SK2915987253 Cross this minor road near the roadbridge for a final short section of trail before the turnaround point as it meets the A57. On the return leg, there are some options to take paths that follow the other bank of the river for a distance.

Briefly tarmac through the play area, then almost entirely flat dirt path alongside the riverbank. Two road crossings

Can get quite muddy in places after prolonged spells of rain, but normally quite runnable all year around. Well sheltered from any wind
