Rosedale Rumble 30 mile ultra Trail running

A Challenge Event for Walkers and Runners in aid of the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund, using the remote tracks and woodland trails of the North York Moors around Rosedale Abbey. 13, 30 and 40 mile routes available.
A friendly and low-key event, the Rosedale Rumble makes an ideal first trail 'ultra'. It isn't all that hilly, and apart from one long stretch of boggy ground in the middle, most of the terrain is runnable. The race route is marked with tape, but carrying a map of the route is recommended.

Detailed description

1
SE6845198880 From the start, the narrow muddy trail climbs gradually up for some miles until you reach the start of the disused railway line path, which is flat and fast. CP #1 on disused railway. The path continues until just above Dale Head Farm, where there is a short, steep climb followed by several miles of flat but very boggy ground

2
SE7440699448 CP #2 on road crossing, 3:45 cutoff. This CP marks the end of the really boggy section. Hopefully you still have both shoes attached, ready for the next 17 miles!

3
SE7514490824 CP #3 at road crossing, 5:45 cutoff. About a mile of forest trail after leaving this CP there is a river crossing on very slippery stones.

4
SE7227295508 CP #4 at golf club, 7:15 cutoff. The final big climb of the race winds steeply up through the golf club to Bank Top, and then it is (almost) all downhill to the finish
