A Challenge Event for Walkers and Runners in aid of the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund, using the remote tracks and woodland trails of the North York Moors around Rosedale Abbey. 13, 30 and 40 mile routes available.
A friendly and low-key event, the Rosedale Rumble makes an ideal first trail 'ultra'. It isn't all that hilly, and apart from one long stretch of boggy ground in the middle, most of the terrain is runnable. The race route is marked with tape, but carrying a map of the route is recommended.

An interesting mix of different terrain, from several miles of fast & very runnable disused railway track, to some tough boggy trail across Rosedale Moor. Plenty of stony dirt paths, and a few minor stream crossings. Almost no tarmac
Mostly quite runnable trail/path with good drainage, there is one particularly boggy section that is tough even in dry weather. Sections of slippery mud & rocks, and some sticky clay in places
Poorly served by public transport, there are only buses through Hutton le Hole 2 days a week! http://www.northyorkstravel.info/place/h...

There are 2 cafes in Rosedale Abbey, just off the race route, as well as 2 cafes in Hutton-le-Hole. During the Winter months they shut early (or only open certain days of the week), so best to ring ahead if you're relying on them
