Name and shame!
Owen W-G - 21/Dec/05Report Cool - where can I buy some of those?? Probably the only way I'd ever 'climb' London Wall!
Nick Smith - Climbers - 22/Dec/05Report I think (the climber in question) got his etriers, if thats what you mean, from the U.S., but apparently you can also get them fro mneedlesports.
He's a bit of an aid fan since hes going to yosemite next summer!
Si dH - 22/Dec/05Report He's a bit of an aid fan since hes going to yosemite next summer!
Well it was originally an aid route. Most of the finger-jams are peg-scars. If he wants to climb it like that, all power to him, that's what I say!
Andy S - 18/Jun/06Report Pretty sure he said C1, mostly nuts with a couple of WC zero and tricam placements. Ive never done any aiding myself and don't really know how the grading system works though. In years gone by and the days of pegging your way up it I assume it was A1.
Si dH - 18/Jun/06Report looking pretty wety in the pic so probably good to get out in the wet and do some aiding
simon ashmore - 29/Oct/06Report What you can't see in this photo, is that he was actually solo aid climbing, because I forgot to bring my harness. At least it meant that I was free to take the photo.
Phil Payne - 21/Feb/07Report Heh, you should probably put them in yoru profile Phil, Im not really sure why they were ever in mine :) I think I put them up on Tom's behalf really. You havent just see nthe mfor the first time have you?
Si dH - 21/Feb/07Report Why should someone be named and shamed for aiding a route? Go to Yosemity and tell em its not cool. He is useing clean aid not damageing anything, so whats the trouble. These routes are for anyone no matter what stlye of climbing they participate in. Good effort mate. Can anyone posting negative comments climb London Wall? didnt think so.
foxyloxy - 18/Apr/08Report he's only doin what everyone else does when they place gear... it does no harm, looks like he's chillin havin fun! just be sure nobody starts dry toolin the thing aye
Mike Goldthorp - 22/Jan/10Report Good effort mate, Don't see why he should be slagged off for climbing something in the style he wants to. He's not damaging the rock so who cares!
mlmatt - 24/May/10Report why are people saying good effort mate? it just isn't. i don't really care that he did it but it wasn't a good effort
mwatson - 20/Jun/12Report Its funny how this one still generates comments 7 years on. Have you ever tried aiding? Its harder than it looks. I seem to remember Tom saying some bits were quite tough, with a couple of skyhooks and tiny cams (zero 1 and 2?) involved. Rather him than me.
Si dH - 20/Jun/12Report I think the ethics keyboard warriors are totally missing the point... he's aid climbing it, probably learning to aid climb. I aided London wall numerous times while training for America (and a load of other routes at millstone) while perfecting my aiding, hauling, jugging, lowering out. I'd rock up and free a few as a warm up, then do 20-30 laps via aid. This has nothing to do with his free climbing skill... indeed he may well be better at free climbing than all of you numpties.
Blake - 11/May/18Report
