    I'm not entirely sure what I like about this, it's slightly blurred focus and oil-painting landscape style are not usually to my tastes. Is there any digital enhancement on this to get the painting effect?

    There's no digital tinkering at all - but it wasn't obviously hazy when I took the pic. Some of the out of focus - the foreground especially - is from the scanning.
