On paper its altitude might not bowl you over, but on Lingmoor great things come in small packages. Standing alone, unhitched to any of its higher neighbours, Lingmoor's strategic position between Great Langdale and Little Langdale makes it a superb viewpoint. From the wooded lower slopes to the knobbles on top, this is Lakeland at its varied best. The short route described here is ideal either as a half-day family adventure, or a quick blast between showers.

SummitsLingmoor Fell 469 m
Car park in Elterwater village, NY328048
A mix of quarry and farm tracks in the valleys, and clear easily-followed hill paths on the open fell above. There's some moderately rough and occasionally soggy ground.
An excellent quickie for short winter days or poor weather. Lingmoor Fell's low altitude may make it a good bet when higher surrounding fells are clouded over.
