Looking at going to Norway for some ice in February.  I have been to Rjukan, Setesdal and Hemsedal so fancy a change. Anyone recommend anywhere new? I have heard good reports about Lyngen and Aurland. Anyone got any thoughts?

Regards

Senja is brilliant.  Mostly short snow shoe walk-ins and endless unclimbed lines, right by the sea.

Highly recommend the area east of Lyngen (Sørdalen/Spansdalen/Kåfjord).  Look up 'north norway ice climbing' blog for some useful beta.

Weve done a couple of trips to Oppdal and had a good time.

Unless there's another Spansdalen, then Spansdalen is a long way SW of Lyngen!

I was in Lillehammer last year, which was good, more spread out than Rjukan, but had some nice routes. We stayed at Hafjell, which also has good skiing by all accounts (I don't ski so can't judge it myself).

There's a new guidebook out for the area too. https://www.oxfordalpineclub.uk/shop.php#!/Lillehammer-Selected-Ice-Climbs/...
