Has someone removed the belay from around the tree for some good reason?

We did a clean up at Stoney, and moved some of the belay points, for the BMC last summer. I don't know about at that end, but in some cases belays around tree were removed because ash dieback meant the trees were dying and were no longer safe. Could it be something like that? Or do you suspect someone just nicked the lower off?

Someone seems to dislike belays round trees at stoney.  Others have been cut and left lying around nearby, as if to make a point. Happened a few times now since the BMC cleanup and they've not all been on ash trees either

Suprised they would take the trouble to snark belays but leave the 10's of metres of handline rope untouched (that really isnt needed) that run along from the Garage buttress end.

Elsewhere as well. In prep for the latest BMC Limestone guides,  BMC volunteers replaced all the tat belays at Aldery with thick black static rope. Then someone kindly removed them all soon after.
