Assynt snow level

Has anyone seen the Assynt hills over the weekend? I'd like to go take some photos of Suilven looking wintry but that would require snow down to about 400m.

Skye had snow below that level but parts of the mainland didn't look so white.

Doesn't need to be in actual nick, just white enough to pass muster in a guidebook. 😀

Cheers.

The snowline is definitely lower than 400 metres. I didn't get a good view of the western face of Suilven as we were on Quinag but it was certainly looking wintery across the hill generally.

Were you climbing or walking on Quinag?

In reply to DaveHK:

We were climbing on Bucket Buttress. Good conditions, everything was well frozen in place and more than a cosmetic dusting of snow.

Don't suppose anyone got photos of Bucket Buttress? One I've not got yet for new guide.

I do, from last winter. John Lyall has done almost every route on the crag so he would be able to provide you an accurate lined topo. I’ll email you a crag shot.

The snow level is down to the road, but I think the crag won't be all that white. There's more snow showers forecast for tonight/tomorrow.
