Hello

I am going to chamonix and need insurance that covers glacier trekking with a guide up to 2000 M for a week.

Does anyone know if the Austrian alpine club UK insurance covers it, or the BMC? I am struggling to find a list of activities that is covered in them.

Thanks!

In reply to heathergrace:
AAC UK insurance would cover it. I'd imagine BMC insurance too, but AAC one is cheaper. Membership of the AAC UK also gives you reciprocal rights for mountain huts if that's a consideration.

For Europe make sure you have your EHIC card (old E1 11 card) as well as any insurance.

In reply to heathergrace:
AAC (or actually OeAV) will cover that. And much more.

You can read all the rules (in plain english, I might add) from here:
http://www.alpenverein.at/portal/service/mitgliedschaft/mitgliedervorteile/...

Nice thing is that you'll also get the discount on most of the huts ('cept Cosmiques, as it is privately owned, unlike most huts in the alps).

EDIT: slow...

Oh, check the folder PDF, which is the full insurance rules.

That said, BMC insurance would also cover it. But it's more spendy, then again perhaps the claim amounts are better.

Thank you everyone, this is really useful! I will compare the claim prices etc of BMC and AAC
