Hi folks,

There's a hole in my wall where an outside tap comes out of, which is roughly a 'balled fist' in diameter. Would something like this be okay for filling in the hole with before painting, if I painted some kind of waterproofing treatment on it afterwards too. I'm vaguely pondering putting some kind of metal mesh a couple of inches into the hole/back from the edge of the hole - to give it something to adhere to.

I don't have any pieces of brick or anything to hand to fill the hole with, and with it being due to be painted, this seemed like a relative quick and easy fix...

Thanks.

Edit:  Or would this be more suitable?

The mortar is a better bet, and will be weatherproof. It'll fill the hole but won't look too pretty if unless you do it in a few hits.

Do you mean to build it up in layers?

Yes, fill most of it in one go and then tidy up with a final layer. If you put too much on it'll slump.

You could fill it with expanding foam and cut it back about 10mm from the surface and point this up with some mortar.
