Any suggestions for accommodation in the Highlands for a group up 9/10 with 2/3 dogs. For a weekend birthday celebration with hill walking. Summer. Bothies out as certain people require facilities like plumbing and heating.

We got a cheap deal a couple of weeks back at Melfort Village south of Oban. They were very dog friendly. Not super close to mountains, but not too far either.

The Mountain Bear Lodge near Aviemore suits the bill. It's pricey but split between 10 people it would be around £100pppn. Takes dogs and is close to the hills.

Not the Highlands, but I spent a week here (4 adults, 4 children, 2 springers - one room spare)

Tonnes wildlife (peregrine flew over when we arrived!), massive living room with a roaring fire.

Excellent value, 10 mins to a beech, The Merrick not too far away, Kirkcudbright close.
