Hello. I am looking for a down jacket for my husband, 6'4", basically a brain on a stick. I'm not sure that a regular fit down jacket is going to be slim enough and I haven't found one on line that isn't a regular fit. Also e.g. Montane don't give the length of the back, which does need to be really long.

Just wondering if there is anyone out there of similar build who has a down jacket that fits?

(Posting in this forum because walkers might have these, although the main idea is to keep him warm indoors).

I'm 6' and my alpkit one has a bit of length to spare. Maybe not 4 inches though.
But if it's just for round the house and there's only you there to laugh at him there's always these:

You could get a custom length/fit from PhD if you are feeling wealthy and have a little time. The quality is very good.

I'm a similar build and get on best with Mountain Equipment (as does another lanky pal of mine) - most other brands I find too boxy (so short in the body relative to their volume). Anything made with their EXL system of elasticated stitching is designed to minimise excess volume in the jacket body, but this does tend to be the more expensive models and personally I've found that my Senja jacket (on the cheaper end) is a great fit without any excess bagginess.

Jottnar is slim fitting and long in the arms.

Feed him on pies. It'd help widen him at the middle and increase bodily insulation. Win win

Numerous experiments have been conducted, by his mother and by me, and it really really doesn't work. Believe me this is not for want of trying.

I can agree with the comments here.  I am 6'5'' and under 13 stones and have got on well with Alpkit and have one of their down jackets.  My 18 yr old son, who is the only person I know who makes me look short and fat has got an ME Senja which is an acceptable fit and I am very jealous of.

I'm skinny but not tall, so can't say for sure, but I thought the Simond jacket, like most of their stuff was pretty slim fitting so might be worth a look.  Good luck.
