Hello alpine climbers,

I am a young climber from Switzerland and I'm helping a friend, who is creating new multi-pitch-climbing routes on Sicily, near Palermo.

I made a little multilingual website for this routes and now I want to translate also the topos (I hope you call it also in English “Topo”) completely.

Now I’m searching for the correct definition and also for a shortcut of a rock formation/ hole, where you can put a little sling for the protection:

In the German language you call it “Sanduhr” and the shortcut is “SU”
In Italy you call ist “clessidra” and the shortcut is “cl”

Someone told me, that the English word is “in situ sling”
Is this correct? And does someone know a good shortcut how to write and mark it in the Topo

Kind of correct - a sanduhr/clessidra is actually usually a thread, either natural or drilled. The sling may or may not be in place.

An "in situ sling" just means a sling someone has left there. The rock formation would be called a thread.
