Hi,

Planning on a potential trip to the Alps this summer, and will hopefully end up with a couple of weeks in the mountains.

Any advice on a decent area that is van friendly and has good alpine routes up to D and decent valley climbing for down days.

Usually do Chamonix, but fancy somewhere different. Been to arolla, ecrins and cham in the past. Van will be wild camping, but would be nice to have an Aire or similar near so can fill up water, dispose of waste!

Cheers for any advice!

Regarding the Aires the book ‘All the Aires France, south’ should put you right.

There’s also an app called Campercontact which for about £5 a year has hundreds of cheap or free campervan stops all over Europe. We used it for a 6 week trip around Scandinavia and it was brilliant. Accurate and easy to use once you got used to the limited map. I think it’s a Dutch app but it has all the details in English and photos of stops too.
