Abs superb!! I was rock climbing on this wall a couple of weeks back and in awe of the winter routes on here. I'd give this photo a 10 if I could!

Agree, top pic. Winter grade? The obvious question is where on earth does it go from there; surely not the roofed corners above?

VII8 rings a bell?

VII,7 I think. From the top of this short icefall, move right on a ledge to climb the 10m left facing corner in the middle ground (tricky thin hooking), then move right on another ledge to belay at the bottom of the big left facing corner at top of the photo. I then led to the top in a 60m pitch, v steep at first. Where the groove ends, move right into a series of icy grooves, which lead to the top. Amazing route.

Should add, I think the line we took may differ in places from the line Andy Nisbet took as per the guidebook description. Don't think it really matters though, just a case of following your nose. The big left facing corner is the most obvious feature viewed from below.

Could be a bit tricky.

Have since found out that this line is actually the corner system to the left of Maelstrom. It joins Maelstrom on the second pitch for the final 30m.
