Its got the feel of a HDR image perhaps. There's a lot less light coming from the rock than there is from the landscape to the right. The Roundshot panoramic camera used can vary the exposure as it goes round, speeding up or slowing down depending on the amount of light. Therefore it compensates for the change in light, the results can be images that you'd normally need a grad filter or to employ multiple exposures. Also its 180 degree view, so there's what's known as 'barrel distortion' going on.

That explains it then. There is a bright area on the grass and surrounding rock in the centre of the image that I think draws attention away from the climber though.
