What's the lower piece of gear? The "funny slider thing" James alludes to in his comment on the log?

Apparently Outside have a weird “thingemy” for the shot hole.

Wasn't there something called an 'Amigo' back in the day? I think Ron Fawcett used one on the FA.

Tom is referring to the lowest runner, not the one in the in the shothole, which is next to the climber's right foot. The Amigo Ron used was placed in the shothole. Great shot Jethro...

Such a good shot this! So lucky just happened to be in the right place at the right time by chance.

Excellent shot, especially so since geeky me didn't even immediately realise it was peak grit, let alone where and what

Beautiful lighting on this classic climb.

I was lucky with the light, it was lit with some pretty bright contrasty blue sky light 5 mins before James started climbing which I was hoping would stay, the clouds rolled in just before he started climbing but fortunately there was a break and the sun half popped out from the clouds providing a minutes soft diffuse light that gives a nice Autumnal feel.

Light, shadows… come on everyone wants to know what’s the story with the lover bit of gear.

Awesome photo Jethro!
As far as that first piece of gear goes to be honest I don't really know..! It's kind of like one of those trango ballnuts in how it works but seems like it's been shaped exactly to fit that little pinhole (which it does perfectly!).
Outside have it behind the desk to borrow!
