An alpine trip to Chamonix in 1964. For much of the visit we based ourselves in the Chalet Austria. Didn't use the huts much, too expensive for us at the time, and did a lot of bivying out. I think it was on this outing to the Couvercle that as we neared the hut a window opened and a flaming gas stove came flying out The person who threw it was one Nick Escort.
