Unfortunately the face was not in condition so we (me and Mike Mortimer) switched to the Ryan next door, thereby allowing me to complete the classic trilogy of routes involving the infamous triple bergschrund.

Ha! Just seen this. Thank you so much - such a wonderful record of a mountaineering life. Superb. Interesting to see the name of Avis Reynolds in the text. She was the wife of my Latin master at school - I see her quite often.
