Very nice indeed, great exposure.

Yep I'd echo previous comments, a wonderful photo and only possible through a lot of effort. I guess this time you didn't bivvy out on the car 😉
Al Todd - 02/Feb/17
Thanks all for the comments. Dossed in the Cairngorm carpark. 4.30am departure with trail breaking and some interesting navigation to make it just in time for sunrise as the cloud lifted off the top of MacDhui. Taken about 50m down the Lairig Ghru side for the best viewpoint and to catch the foreground light.

Worth every ounce of effort for that view.

I bet you had a huge grin on your face when you were editing this one...it's simply stunning, the beautiful hints of pink works sublimely, my favourite photo on here for some time !

The serenity of the scene belies the hard graft that went into capturing it! The touches of pink form a really nice triangle that links the foreground and background and really draws you into the pic. Great, I give it another 5 if I could. The 10-24 I guess? The Ochils next?....
IM - 03/Feb/17
Thanks Mac. Yes it's the 10-24 at 13mm. A snowy sunrise/set above the fog in the Ochils would be good - managed to go without an SD card last time!

Not a lot of the white stuff yet. However this light dusting actually displays the landscape's bare bones so to speak. Lovely!

This is the essence of good photography. Forget post processing, back focussing, focal planes and white balance charts. It's getting up at silly o'clock, hiking in the cold and dark to a spot with some forethought. Then repeating several times until you get that magical moment. Great shot.

Thanks a lot James! Yes, I agree, right place, right time and point camera in right direction - the rest is just detail.
