Looking back to the Baroude Wall. My first ever climb in the Pyrénées, 30 years ago, was an AD + route of 500m to the Pic Central ( the point 1/3 from the left).
Belays on pegs and heavy Galibier Brenva's on my feet ! Hardly anyone makes the effort these days to climb on the 3 km long wall. The hut-keeper told me only one group from the Gendarmerie de Haute Montagne climbed a route on the Pic de Gerbats last summer ( summit on the right).

I'm amazed this one is as good as it is as I was half-pi$$ed when I took it !

Looks good! What time of year was this photo taken?

Early June. Under the wall at 2300m there was still a couple of metres of snow.
This was my first outing afer a bad accident and a long period of convalesence. I treated myself to a decent bottle of wine and some cheese at the hut to celebrate, which explains my previous comment.
