Enormous depth of snow still on the Ben with many cornices still to fall
Al Todd - 12/May/14
Phenomenal amount of snow up Scotland this winter. That cornice looks outrageous. When was this photo taken. Had it partially collapsed and just stopped there?
David Cowley - 13/May/14
Pic was taken on the 10th May. Along almost the entire length of the North face some monster cornices and collapsed head walls still wait to fall. In particular there is a house sized block at the top of Smiths which is sitting at an impossible detached angle. When it does go anyone in Tower gully or Observatory Gully would be in serious trouble. We skied gullies 2,3, 4 and 5 though and all were safe at the time of entry.

Are you sure that's not a serac on Mont Blanc du Tacul? LOL. RN

"They were all safe at the time of entry" Yep, looks fine to me. Did you shove it a bit to see if it went?!?

I wish I had his bollocks, and his technique.

Surely that is as mental as it looks? Isn't that an avalanche waiting to happen?
