This photo and the ones of the boulderers in Eskdale and of the climbers in Ailefroide have an old fashioned look about them. I like them.

I agree. In each case, you've caught 'timeless' climbing moments. If you changed the clothing, they could belong to any era, e.g. 1970s, 1960s, before... even 1920s or Victorian.

Not sure how to explain that effect. On reflection I wonder if these 2 photos were actually scanned from slides ( I had thought they were taken with my digital, but might be mistaken)- perhaps a scanned image adds a certain aged quality to the image.

I think you've simply caught 'timeless' moments. For example, in this photo, you've caught the après climbing glow of deserved relaxation... and you've got this glimpse into 'an untravelled world'.

This is the kind of wonderful image that makes me 'homesick' for my climbing years. One of the most magical places in England.
