How long will it be until someone adds 'skin' under this phallic monstrosity? How on earth did it get to the point where this was seen to be better than the old marker? Another example of 'touristing' up the Ben. Knock it down.

Couldn't agree more. For many years, some of us have been removing rocks from unnecessary cairns. Unfortunately, we're losing the battle.

I took the pic because the Number 4's (there are two of them) look completely out of place to me.

I wouldn't worry Mike. There'll be invisible with a layer of rime on them.

I'm quite surprised at this latest'development'. Did we not have a period of consultation on the issue of the old marker post(s) and as I seem to remember the general consencus was although they were pretty unsightly everything should be left as is???
