Great job! One word of caution though, I tried a similar leash set-up on my Aztarex axes and found that the clpis could flip open occasionally when you let the axe dangle (the twisting action could open the biner). Try it out in a non-pressure situation first, not halfway up Last Post on Creag Meagaidh!

The D shackle and carbine clip are a matching pair from a chandler - the shackle can't touch the gate to open it - the gate has to be opened first by hand to come free. A triumph of design that had nothing to do with me!
