This was the first time for Noll in Scotland in the summer and, with his fair complexion, the midges drove him mad. I do have a photo of his midge bitten face but I would never dream of sunmitting it ! Or would I ?
Ken asked me for this photo to publish in Classic Rock but rejected it because he said it wasn't sharp.

Interesting to see twin-ropes being used; pretty early example?

Not really Mike - I had been using double nylon ropes with two hemp waistlines and two Stubai screwgates since 1961. By the time of this photo we had moved on to perlon ropes and simple waist harnesses.

I was certainly using twin ropes in the 60's!

I intended to put this photo in the Historical gallery but somehow it appeared in Trad climbing. However, in this section it can be voted on and I'm pleased it got a '5'

Good Lord - I thought I'd done this route, but I certainly don't remember this.
