I remember at the time remarking to my partner James, about the intense blue of the sky but somehow forgot about the photo until checking out my files yesterday. It was quite windy at the time as can be observed by the spindrift visible top R in the image. The thumbnail doesn't really do justice to the final image.

That's not deep snow! But have a 5 anyway. Hope this don't end up on UKH? :-(

Having done an identical walk here last winter, this year took 2 hours longer because of the snow conditions. Not just deep but also crust higher up which kept collasping, accompanied by a bitter blustery wind. Other comments observed from climbers active during those few days describe similar trying conditions. Nice photo, Sean. I take it this is the 'unending' slope up from the Allt a'Mhuilin? I had a less dramatic but similar experience on the Cribin in December, took 3 hours in appalling but beautiful powder snow whereas the previous winter it had taken just over an hour on perfect neve!

After climbing over the style at the Dam. continue for about 1k then strike L. up the never-ending slope that leads eventually to the top of Carn Mor Dearg. Better than going straight up from the CIC.

Just to correct Padraig I'm James, the snow was dry and had a hard crust at just under 10 1/2 stone I could just walk without going through it, Sean's heavier though and kept falling though it up to his knees. the photo doesn't show me doing my best not to giggle at Sean's consternation.
