Nice detailed shot, but I can't help feeling more context would have helped.

I think I would have to agree with you, it was unfortunately a bit harder to get some further back shots to give more context and switching to wider lenses then lose the impact of the route.
I think a trek further back to try and get a shot with more of the crack in the shot (it's 7m of a mostly thinner than finger width crack) Or perhaps even a Triptych vertically with something like this as a detail shot, a further back shot showing the entire problem then maybe a top down shot as they top out.
