Did you traverse in from quite high up? We did a 30 m pitch up to the base of the chimney(still avoiding the summer start) - a lovely pitch. Unfortunately my mate couldn't then watch me in the chimney itself which was pretty thrutchy!

We had a look and around and because the lower bits were covered by waist deep powder I went to the right where the rope is visible. The climb proper started with the chimney line.
