thank you very much Mr Mills
I have about 50 digital stills like this with the northern lights and Mount Asgard, as its part of a timelapse, I would love to put them all up here but think the guys in charge might not like that!!

This might seem like a silly question but, are those stars or is it snowing :) I think they are stars BUT !
mr mills - 23/Nov/09
Yes, they're stars, it was a crystal clear night, and about -15 or more!

wow that must have been something to behold in the flesh..jaw dropping esp with presence of giant Asgard there

As well as the awesome aurora with Asgard standing proud, what you don't know is, on that night the glacier was very active and the sound of canon fire was booming from under my feet, it was like the Spanish armada and as you say quite simply jaw dropping.

Good so far thanks... volunteering as a teacher near Besishar having returned from Naya Kanga 5800m - a successful ascent, fabulous trip... staying for second season and hoping maybe for a 2nd peak. I am flexible in my choice. I have been researching Himalayan peaks and routes for a possible ascent during March 2010...possibly extending into April. I am flexible with what and where exactly (although regions close to Pokhara or Kathmandu may give more climbing time). I would like a challenge, say a grade of AD or above possibly over 6000m, and am even prepared to get away from the crowds – although a standard trekking peak would also suffice. Peaks I have considered are: Pisang peak (PD), Chulu West or Central (AD), and even Ama Dablam. To reduce costs I am looking to team up with someone, or join another expedition if the climb and group is agreeable. What are your plans then? Good photos very probable. Hope you are well too!

PS
I am a long way from any internet service for most of the next 2 months but presently this week 19-12-09 resident in Pokhara... there-after only fortnightly visits to Besishar will be possible. Usually I can get to a cheapish land-line telephone and so I could reply more directly to any emails.
