This wonderful historic Dzong was sacked by the chinese invaders into Tibet in 1950 and the lamasary decimated, the Dalai Lama is still revered in Xegar and all the children would run up and ask us for pictures of him, which some members of the expedition had been thoughtful enough to bring along. They were handed out away from the sight of our chinese liasion officer
