Not a dig at you, but what is the point of these ladders?
The slabs look fairly easy, and climbing it would be far more enjoyable than trudging up a ladder.

Well, they are recently glacially polished slabs and would be E1 at climb, plus this is the normal way down onto the glacier, not a crag per se.

Perhaps if rusty_nails had finished a long route and then walked the length of the Mer de Glace and wanted to get to the Montenvers Railway station and thence to Cham he might then appreciate the point of the ladders
