It was horrible to watch this massive fall from near the very top of the E5 section of White Wand. Dave broke his heel bone :(

I love the dynamism of all the spotters lurching forward - I can almost feel the moment - would have been a perfect shot if the guy falling was a little higher - but 5* none the less :o)

I think the plan was that Dave would solo up to the break (which is the end of the E5 bit?), then be thrown a rope + gear so he could lead the easier top section.

Nick - yeah, I had planned to solo the lower section,, and see how the top section looked. Wearing the harness gave me the option of a rope and gear had I wanted it for the top section. It's academic now anyway, really :)
