Detailed description

1
SN8944080178 Take the minor road on the right 1 mile west of Llangurig. Follow it to where a track on the left (at a right-hand bend) leads up the valley, crosses a road, and then enters a forest.

2
SN8742582360 Forestry tracks eventually reach a very pleasant dell and car park.

3
SN8572886945 A minor road wends it way through the forest near the upper reaches of Llyn Clywedog reservoir. On exiting the forest the road continues across flat land to a junction with the B4518 close to the village of Staylittle.

4
SN8843692397 A minor road and then track ascends to fine open grassy moorland. At the end the single track dips very steeply (dangerous - best to push down) to a river crossing and then up again to a farm building. The track quickly gains a junction with another track and a view of Glaslyn.

5
SN8288493625 The track contours around Glaslyn and gains a fantastic viewpoint at Bwich y Graig.

6
SN8265895187 A breathtaking descent down the twisting rocky track transitions into equally fine grass single-track and eventually a farm is encountered. Deserted lanes wind up and around small valleys until a left turn onto a track is reached.

7
SN7738796554 The track climbs up above a homestead and then through forest to emerge at a col.

8
SN7672095501 Great riding on good tracks and with superb views ends at a junction with a gravel road.

9
SN7524797595 A swift descent down the gravel road reaches a lane.

10
SN7424297448 Narrow lanes head through beautiful countryside until a bridleway on the right is reached.

11
SN7327598163 Take the bridleway to a wood yard.

12
SN7302497702 A gorgeous bit of riding down the valley from the wood yard meets more open valley floor tracks and then the A487 main road.

13
SN7021997377 Go left along the main road for 0.5km to a railway station sign for Dovey Junction.

14
SN6963997047 Pass a gate and then take the gravel track to the station and the end of the Trans Cambrian Way.

15
SN6968797973 Dovey Junction has no public access by car or parking. Either take a train to Machynlleth (best spot to leave a car or get a Taxi/Train back to the start of the route) or cycle (about 20 minutes).
