Rockfax Description
From Rifugio Vandelli the clockwise circuit begins. Follow path 243 south-east to reach the impressive west wall of Croda del Fogo and the start of via ferrata Alfonso Vandelli. The route is immediately interesting with some good exposure as a series of ladders ascend steeply, allowing height to be gained quickly. After some two hours of climbing, a partially protected ledge system leads to Col del Fogo/Fuoco (2360m) and some outstanding views over the surrounding area. The path descends north-east before turning east and then south, losing nearly 400m of height before reaching Bivacco Comici (possible overnight stop), an hour and a half after departing from the col. © Rockfax
