This is not a competition. Its an attempt to expand the marketing department without increasing the salary.

These competitions are disgusting. They are also against the guidelines of Facebook.

> Administration of a promotion

> Promotions may be administered on Pages, groups, events or within apps on Facebook. Personal timelines and friend connections must not be used to administer promotions (e.g. "share on your timeline to enter" or "share on your friend's timeline to get additional entries" and "tag your friends in this post to enter" are not permitted).

Hi Achaplin,
We hope you are well. Here at Trekitt, we are a small team of outdoor enthusiasts wanting to bring our customers the best kit and customer service the industry has to offer. We sometimes have the opportunity to offer our customers and fans the chance to get their hands on the latest kit in the form of a competition/giveaway. In exchange for entry, we do ask that you follow certain steps (liking us on Facebook, email sign up etc). We have recently been made aware that we haven't followed Facebook guidelines with this competition, which we will amend for our next competition. However, to put your mind at ease this is a real competition and we are a real independent company who are trying to offer our customers all that we can.
We hope this doesn't make you think twice before shopping with us in future.
Kind regards,
Trekitt

Hi, I'm not "on" Facebook. How do I enter without being "on" it? Thanks, Felt.

You can't, the purpose of this comp was a marketing exercise to expand the social media following with a relevant user group. The problem (as recognised and responded to above) is that the competition follows a fairly spammy format (forced share, friend tagging etc) which breaks Facebook's guidelines for competitions.

That said they're now firmly aware of the issue and presumably in future will resort to more community friendly methods to grow their social following.

That is pretty much the case with every online competition. you never actually have to do anything taxing to win a UKC comp, the answer is often in the post anyway. if you dont buy into it then dont enter, or suck it up and maybe get some free shit along the way, its your choice.
