What is people's experience of ropes advertised as being made specifically for indoors, such as:

  • Beal Wall Master 10.5 mm
  • Edelrid Boa Gym 9.8 mm
  • Mammut Gym Workhorse 9.9 mm

?

I’ve used edelweiss indoor ropes for a few years now, I’ve had good experiences. I occasionally take it outdoors for low crags. The beefiness of the ropes is reassuring and I find they handle fine in my belay device

+1 for Edelweiss. Got my 30m rope in a sale for £40 and it handles really nicely.

They'll all be fine, though can't see the point in going for something as thick as 10.5mm, that's going to be overly heavy & difficult to pull through your belay device.  No need to go for that thick a rope for yourself.

FWIW Although I'm sure they make some good ropes that handle nicely, my first outdoor rope was a 60m Edelweiss that handled like absolute sh!t so I wouldn't touch them with barge pole now.
