Just looking at my ski gear, and my ski goggles strap have gone strange. The strip of silicone gripper has almost melted to leave a strip of sticky goo and leaves sticky mess everywhere.

sShould i bin the goggles? Scrape it off and apply new silicone? If so what type bog standard bathroom stuff?

In reply to Ffati1:

just get new goggles… they are consumables After all. But in the future, try to store ’em sonewhere cooler… or where you have less solvents in the air. Those are the Most common reasons for the silicon to ”melt”.

that said, you could try to un-fasten the strap, and with heat try to scrape the goo away (search How to remove glue from skins, that might work). Then you could use ’em as spares, or for foul weather hiking, biking or mountaineering…
