Trying to free up up room on my phone and I’ve transferred all my photos on my phone onto the laptop (and will back these up as normal). But, my iPhone says that Photos is using 36.43GB but there’s hardly any photos or documents (I’ve deleted all the WhatsApp and iMessage photos etc as well). Does the 36.43GB include the space needed for the  app as well as the actual photos ?

There’s an album named “recently deleted” which functions as a 30-day recycle bin. Go and manually empty it.

I’d also recommend switching to using iCloud - much easier than copying things to your laptop.

Thanks, didn’t realised there was such a folder. Already use iCloud, but dont pay for any upgrade.
