Hi all!

I really enjoy both taking rock climbing photos and getting photos of myself climbing.

I'm hoping for tips/techniques for getting good climbing photos of myself while sport climbing.

I've had a few ideas:

  • Automatic-following drone - expensive and a bit of a faff
  • Remote-operated, wall mounted camera I can set up on adjacent route - cheap but I can't find wall mounting equipment and I'd have to go up another route to set up.

Has anyone got good experience doing this? Can you recommend equipment? Is it just a futile endeavour?

Thanks!

In reply to ethanr2000:

Think it depends on what you mean by 'good'. Easy enough to get long distance telephoto side shots or ground-level using a tripod and intervalometer. If you're wanting a shot from above or above-and-off-to-side, it's going to get complicated and time-consuming (like climbing and adjacent route and rigging a camera on it). You could always hire Mike Hutton
