Hey UKC,

I've just put out a piece of writing about losing someone close, and climbing as escapism, focusing on a recent ascent of the Old Man of Hoy. I'd love folk to read it and let me know what they think, it's called "The Black Dog and the White Hare".

Yeah. There were a couple of bits there that really resonated. Way before the internet, when I was young and selfish, my mum got ill. I ignored a few messages. There was always time to visit later.

Turns out there wasn't

I think it was excellent

It resonated with me

I really hope you keep writing, and put more of it onto UKC

really cool work. Dare I say, far be it for me to do so, there’s an air of Cormac McCarthy to it. The dog as a moving piece of punctuation to allow breath is a wonderful simile for anything in the readers imagination. I really liked it. Thanks for putting it out there.
I enjoyed that folk music too.
