Rucksack zip repair recommendations?

The zip on my Macpac pursuit 40 is completely mangled, and I'd like to get it repaired rather than buying a new bag. I am not good enough with a sewing machine to do it myself, but Alpkit want 60 quid to replace it, which seems crazy - I could buy a new bag for barely more than that. Does anyone have recommendations for anyone that would do it for a sensible amount of money?

Did you actually show someone in an alpkit shop the rucksack?

Maybe £60 is just a upper limit price they put on the website because no one wants to send their sack away in order to get a quote and so on

Good point, I was only going off the website. The shop is not really close to me but I will give them a call

Great pack. I've heard it can be good to keep the zip lubricated as it's a potential weakness, although I confess I haven't on mine so far.

Might be worth asking the place you bought it from, but it appears that Scottish Mountain Gear may handle warranty repairs for Macpac (and out of warranty repairs too): https://www.scottishmountaingear.com/brand-partners/macpac

P.s. I know that Macpac in New Zealand are very good with repairs for moderate fees even for very old packs, so it could also be worth e-mailing them via their NZ website and asking if they have any specific distributor or representative in the UK.

If you're ever in or near Sheffield I can highly recommend this company
