Used to really love my Buffalo S6 smock, was kind of toasty tho.

Does anyone know if a non toasty gore tex version exists?

Seems sensible having 2 big pockets and easy to use vents/neck zip if wearing a harness compared to a full zip. The pocket on a buffalo easily swallows an os map or climbing guide too.

Try Hilltrek in Aboyne. They also do made to measure, I think.

Better still a Paramo Velez smock. Not as warm as a Buffalo and doesn’t have membrane issues like Goretex. Had one for 10yrs and still works brilliantly. ( yes I also own a Special 6 too. )

It might not have membrane issues but mine lets water in through the zips quite badly (my 18 year old Paramo Cascada is great though). I think Paramo is great for 95% of the time, but if it fails in very heavy rain during cold weather miles from anywhere then you could find yourself in trouble very quickly.
