Anyone have a reccomendation for a lightyweight but hooped bivvy system? My tents are knackered and I'm looking to redcuce weight and bulk without sacrificing too much comfort.

Have been looking at the Macpac Bush Coccoon and the Rab Ridge Raider. Both use eVent which isn't something I am too keen about.

What else is out there? Ideally I'm looking for something with a large size, good head-space and hoops at the feet end too. I want to be able to peg it down and put tension into the fabric cause it will certainly be used in rain (also considering a lightweight tarp to help this issue).

Have looked into the ex army options but only the Dutch versions seem to have hoops.

All tips greatly appreciated. Also realise that a decent 1 person tent is a good alternative option.

I think a decent 1 person tent beats those hooped bivis on almost every parameter.

The more I search and read the more that seems like the better option. I kind of take a hooped bivy as being as being a minimalistic tent.

I'll second that. I have a hooped bivi and just use it for a quick overnight by the car when all I want to do is lie down for a few hours. I can't see any benefit over a modern lightweight single man tent.

Perhaps something like this would fit the bill.

In reply to Andy Manthorpe: Or for less than half that price, much roomier and only 730 grms incl pegs and tent bag

I've just got a Stealth 1.5. Haven't used it in anger yet but have pitched it and its really neat, well designed and surprisingly roomy.

Nice, but unfortunately i'm after something with a floor

Thanks for the replies guys, turning my attention to a 1 or 1.5 person tent.
