Finisterre Range, Papua New Guinea
I'm planning a trip to Papua New Guinea next year, and in my research I discovered the world's "most prominent unclimbed peak" - the Finisterre Range HP. My question is why no-one has climbed it, or perhaps more accurately why no Westerner has climbed it? Have people tried and failed? Is it seen to be too hard? Or is it just because flights there take days and it's in the middle of nowhere?
We're a couple of pretty fit novices wondering how far up from the nearby road we're likely to get before having to turn back!
Cheers
does no reply mean no-one's looked into it before? :P

I'd suggest the Royal Geographical Society if you're really interested. For genuine remote travel they are very useful.
