We were there (Dirc Mhor) a couple of weeks ago. It was blizzarding so we didn't go up the ravine - all the big holes were hidden by a thin layer of snow. So went up Dirc Bheag instead, which is impressive in its own right.
We were staying at the Raeburn Hut and made the mistake of walking from there - the going is awful, endless heather and tussocks with some hidden boulders for good measure.
It's well worth taking in Meall nan Eagan for the views.
