Anyone got one of these? If so, what do you reckon of it? Is it really worth the £120 they're supposed to be, when you can get a similar one for about £30? Anyone know where you can get one from?

Cheers.

They're good, but not worth 120. And the fit is not for everybody - bit short in the arms/baggy waist for me. There was another post on here not long ago comparing them to other windproofs/

I would tell you, but I cannot find anyone that stocks them. £120 does seem very steep.

I would like to try pairing one with my equally silly priced R1 hoody.
In reply to JayPee630: the patagonia shop in hathersage might have one for yu to try on?
In reply to JayPee630:

I used to have one - I didn't pay anywhere near £120 for it though. They're great bit of kit and it lasted me 4 years of abuse, before I split the back. I had one of the old orange ones. My only really complaint is that the hood was a tad too small for most helmets.

I've just got one of these to replace it: http://marmot.com/products/trail_wind_hoody?p=110,74,185

I've used it for 2 months now and really rate it. The cut and design are very similar to the Houdini, but the hood is slightly bigger. The only problem is they there is a bit of mesh under the arms, which can make it a bit breezy.

The green looks great too.

Thanks all. It's an Patagonia R1 hoody I have that I want something to go over too. Yeah did look at that Marmot one instead, although can't find anyone that stocks that either.

In reply to JayPee630: I have the older version of the Marmot - it was meant to be a review for UKC but that didn't get used in the end due to timing issues (the new version coming out), but it's jolly good. Review here: http://lightfromthenorth.blogspot.com/2009/12/marmot-ion-windshirt-review.h... Don't know about the Patagonia one, but that does sound very very expensive.

Another alternative might be the Rab Alpine Pull-on - see here: http://www.ukclimbing.com/gear/review.php?id=2685 A bit heavier but more features.

In reply to TobyA:

Yeah, thanks, saw your good reviews. Have tried the Rab Alpine pull-on, it is a bit heaveier than a simple pertex windshirt as I want one garment for cold weather walking/climbing/running with my R1 hoody, but was gonna go for that, but just far too tight across shoulders.

Will have a look at the Arcteryx Squamish and that Marmot Trail top.

Cheers.
