Pen yr Ole Wen summit (summit) Craig Braich Ty Du (Pen yr Ole Wen)

So yesterday we climbed Pinnacle Ridge then continued up for more action and took a small ridge followed by the longer sky line ridge visible from the ogwen car park. Any idea if this is a route. Certainly looked unclimbed and was suitably loose. Sections of vdiff interspersed with grade II and III scrambling.

Is there any chance it was the scramble route Braich Ty Du Face? In the Ashton guide that goes over Pinnacle Ridge, then on up Porcupine Ridge. Logbook entries suggest it is probably above a scramble grade:

Pinnacle Ridge (Grade-2)

Seems correct although this could describe any of the three or four upper aretes. Only got the UKC description though. I'll check out this guidebook.

It might have been the Porcupine Ridge, which is much higher. Check the new version of the Scrambles in Snowdonia guidebook. It tops out just below the summit of Pen Yr Ole Wen.

In reply to Mike Peacock:

Thanks Mike. It was part of porcupine ridge although we climbed the ridge which joins the northern flank of porcupine ridge and so missed the lower section. Possibly also missed some of the more solid rock. We had considered starting at the tip of the porcupine but felt that the other way looked better climbing.
