Roaches Lower Tier Roaches Lower Tier Roaches Upper TierJust wanted to give a heads up to anyone heading to the roaches today. There are going to be 50 wet probably slightly pissed off fresher's scattered around the crag. We'll have a couple of top ropes set up, with some of the ballsier leaders getting soggy on Diffs.

Sorry if we are getting in the way or causing any inconvenience.

I imagine you’ll be inconveniencing zero people today. Hope they’re not put off for life. Have fun!

Unlikley given the forecast. As an FYI (not meant to be a lecture, although it may come across as such) wet gritstone is far more prone to erosion than dry gritstone - so please think of the rock and maybe do something else, as admirable as your goals to go outside regardless are.

Well said Ian. The key factor to avoid erosion is not to have repeat climbers on a top-rope scrabbling about on wet rock with sandy shoes. As a local tip...routes like the two Raven Rock gully routes can stay dry until the exit and  Siftas Quid inside route is wet fun. Sadly, due to overuse, the bouldering there can be even more sensitive to damage when wet than the routes.

Its usually more fun to go for a walk... its lovely country and locally Ludd's Church is very atmospheric in rain.

ROCKTALK
A general forum for topics relating to climbing. This is the place to debate things like specific routes, ethics, grading, styles of ascent, top roping, headpointing, bouldering, bolts, the latest news and anything else that you have an opinion on. The only caveat is that the topic shouldn't be too trivial, keep the really light-hearted climbing stuff in the Pub.
