Does anyone know what the latest access situation is for Unknown Buttress routes in Avon Gorge? According to the 2017 guide it's not possible to access the land below the routes. Is this still the case? Thanks for any update.

Which route were you looking at? Some are better accessed on ab from the top anyway.

The woods at the bottom there are also swimming with ticks, so check yourself after!

The official position on the RAD has not changed, and an abeil from the top is recommended.

I find its often easier this way in Avon, as the time taken to set up an ab is less than walking round in rock shoes.

However, most people seem to be doing whatever suits them best. Just be sensible and discrete.

Thanks all.....if I do anything I'll ab in. And keep a look out for ticks! It's a shame about the access issue as the routes there are great.
